Jordan Huxhold: The Interview

Interviewer: Marley Melbourne

Interviewee: Jordan Huxhold @jhuxhold

MM: Hi Jordan! On behalf of “CASUAL” Zine, I want to thank you for sharing your story with our readers. Before we get started, it’s important for everyone to get to know you in your own words. Could you tell everyone a bit about yourself?

JH: I’m 20 years old and live in Los Angeles, CA and I’m a social media influencer working

towards a career in modeling.

MM: You have amassed over 1.4 million followers on TikTok and 312,000 on Instagram. You post fashion-forward content including a behind-the-scenes content from photoshoots with brands like Dior. Looking back, did you plan on becoming a prominent social media

JH: I always knew what I wanted in social media and worked towards the goals I wanted to

achieve. I feel like I manifested my success online by knowing who I wanted to be and

who I wanted to surround myself with.

MM: Frequently, you post collaborations with other content creators. You’ve worked with the likes of Addison Rae and Jaden Hossler, just to name a few. What has your experience been networking with other young influencers in Los Angeles? Is there anything in particular you have learnt from another influencer that has helped you throughout your career?

JH: I would say I have learned from quite a few influencers but also learned to be more

original and not follow what everyone else is doing. I found more success in being the

best version of myself.

MM: In terms of fashion, your style is edgy, trend-setting, and classic. Some of your most notable accessories, such as your pearl Vivenne Westwood necklace, have incited trends followed by young people globally. Where do you find inspiration for your style choices?

JH: I find the majority of my style inspiration from 80s and 90s actors such as Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, River Phoenix, Brad Pitt and James Franco. They have become my blueprint to designing my personal look.

MM: Beyond social media, you are really making a name for yourself in the modelling industry. Has modelling allowed you to further develop your sense of style and personal brand? What are your goals for this aspect of your career?

JH: Yes, modeling has definitely allowed me to try new things and push my stylistic

boundaries. I would love to be a professional model, work closely with designers and

create a strong foundation for a future career.

MM: About 7 months ago, you posted a YouTube video titled “Who Is Jordan Huxhold?”. In the video you talk about your love for coffee, art, medieval castles, and pastries. You reflect on your motivation to discover who you truly are. In the time since you released that video, your career has absolutely skyrocketed. What is one thing you have learnt about who you are since that video?

JH: Over that span of seven months I have definitely learned to be more accepting of myself and find confidence in who I am. This video continues to remind me that I’m on a lifetime journey to find out more about myself.

MM: On social media, users are often eager to get to know the people they follow on a personal level. Many content creators have a genuine reason for sharing content on the internet that is larger than themselves. What is the deeper message that you hope to convey to your

JH: When it comes down to it, the primary message I hope to relay to my audience is the

importance of finding confidence in yourself. I feel that I have made an example by being more daring in my looks and putting in the effort to grow my social media platforms. I hope that my followers feel inspired to pursue what gives them inspiration and makes them happy. Additionally, I found comfort in posting on social media to distract me from my depression and anxiety and hope to be a role model for my followers that are facing

similar struggles.

MM: Thank you so much for participating in this interview! I’m sure that all readers can learn something from your story. Please use this question to mention anything that you have not previously said. (Also mention any social media accounts that you want to be referenced). All the best in the future!

JH: Thank you so much for including me! Be sure to check me out on Instagram @jhuxhold and TikTok @jhuxhold. I’m working on some exciting video content for YouTube so keep an eye out for that!
